Well, the time has come for this tired old Chief to step aside and make room for younger, more energetic folks to take over the future of Vehicle Operations. It has been a great ride and I can't imagine what I could have done with my life that would have meant more. Folks often say you'll be moving on to bigger and better things, but I have to tell you there is nothing bigger and better than serving your country.

There are so many people that had a huge influence in my career. Early on a young SSgt Donald Stamets gave me a chance and I was determined not to let him down. Chief Carl Jackson and Chief H.L. Williams both gave me permission to fail. They taught me to take care of the mission, but to also look to the future of Vehicle Operations and plan for it.

SMSgt Hans Mueller, Lt Col Randy Cox and Col Pat Curoe, always there to challenge me and to give me that "warm fuzzy" when I needed it. TMO Chief Don Sanders who ALWAYS knew what to say and when to say it. Chief Kevin Estrem who taught me that a good fight for what you believe in is always invigorating.

"Capt" Patty Hunt, who gave me a new mission and paid respect to my rank and experience by letting me get on with what needed to be done. She gave me credit to know what to do rather than assuming I didn't know, and was right there when I did need to ask questions. TMO Chief Art Livermore, who jumped in and got me in an out of cycle slot to the SNCO Academy, when he didn't have to do a thing. That's what real Chiefs do.

Two of my greatest saving graces at Beale AFB were TSgt Chris Hughes and SrA Marty Lund; they WERE Vehicle Operations. MSgt John Mattock whose dedication to the mission and having fun made the Osan tour bearable. And of course MSgt Tony Killion who has made my last assignment here at Randolph a breeze. And the hundreds of Officers, NCOs and Air Force's finest Airmen that made me love what I do.

Most of all my husband of over 27 years, John, has always given me unwavering support and encouragement. Thank you all for the best time of my life!
